Why do we need a statement of faith?

Our Confession or Statement of Faith, like all doctrine and theology, is a declaration of truths about “The Truth,”  God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit and the Word. It is an attempt to give us a handle on the full Gospel, as we understand it.

Why is this important? Because we the church, have been recently flooded with the doctrines of demons and the doctrines of man. Therefore to keep us from being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine we have written an established "Confession of Faith" as we understand it. 

Ephesians 4:14-15 ESV  so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.  (15)  Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,​

1 Timothy 4:1 ESV  Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,

1 Timothy 4:16 ESV  Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.
